The Ministry of Lands, in particular the National Land Titling Project, has issued a plea to 116,000 property owners who were issued with offer letters to pay the remaining K1000 to obtain title deeds.

According to a statement seen by the Zambian Business Times – ZBT, Land Titling Coordinator Emmanuel Tembo revealed that initially 250,000 were issued, and out of 134 title deeds, they have been handled.

 Previously, ZBT has covered stories on challenges with accessing title deeds, much of the challenge being the access to finances for property owners and a reluctance over the lack of seeing the importance of the deed.

Tembo made a bold plea for the landowners to quickly clear the balance so that their land is secured, as a title deed is a legitimate certificate. Titling is an essential part of formalizing most parts of the country, which were not covered as part of formality; as the country develops, such a service is key.
