UNDERWRITING OFFICER NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, a general insurance company, has been operating in Zambia since 1 October 1997 and has branches in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Chipata. NICO Insurance Zambia Limited is a member of the NICO Group of Companies, which operates in Malawi. The Company is now seeking to identify a qualified individual to be engaged as an Underwriting Officer at our Kitwe Branch on the Copperbelt. Main Purpose of the Job Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Underwriting Officer shall be responsible for ensuring that all underwriting transactions are accurately captured, processing documentation, conducting surveys, providing quotations and issuing renewal terms in good time. Main Duties Prepare quotations timeously and ensure they are confirmed and signed off in line with underwriting guidelines. Prepare and send renewal invitations at least two weeks before policy expiry. Ensure proposal forms, KYC documents, registration certificates, inspection certificates and other required underwriting documents are properly filed. Conduct physical inspections for underwriting purposes and ensure inspection forms are completed and filed before cover is issued. Prepare policy documents within 30 days of issuing cover and ensure appropriate sign-off. Assist in preparing weekly production reports for submission every Friday. Ensure timely debiting of policies before month-end. Prepare and submit COMESA reports by the 3rd of every month. Ensure business transactions are handled on a cash basis unless otherwise authorised. Prepare and submit third-party channel reports timeously. Ensure all premiums received are receipted within 24 hours and correctly allocated. Receive daily sales from sales agents and prepare monthly commission claims. Requirements (Applicants should): Hold a CII Certificate and Diploma in Insurance. Have 1–2 years’ experience in general insurance or a similar related environment. Have basic accounting knowledge and computer literacy. Demonstrate accuracy, the ability to follow instructions and the capacity to work under pressure. Possess good negotiation and customer service skills. Be a paid-up member of the Insurance Institute of Zambia.
