Technical Support Officer Jobs in Lusaka The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) is seeking a skilled Technical Support Officer to join our Health Informatics and technical data team based in Lusaka, Zambia. This role plays a critical part in supporting health facilities through IT and data management, aligned with the U.S. Department of State-funded Controlling HIV Epidemic Program (CHEP). The program aims to strengthen HIV prevention, care, and treatment services while enhancing maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes. About the Role: Technical Support Officer Jobs in Lusaka Reporting to the Senior Technical Support Officer, the successful candidate will coordinate technical support activities and assist with the implementation and support of SmartCare Pro and other health information systems. This full-time position involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the ICT department to ensure seamless IT operations and data integrity across supported health facilities. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, automate, and maintain data collection and performance monitoring tools for programmatic and research purposes. Collaborate with the ICT department to deploy, maintain, and support IT equipment, software, and local area networks relevant to health facility operations. Provide technical support for SmartCare Pro deployment, including configuration, user management, troubleshooting, and escalation of issues. Mentor health facility staff on SmartCare Pro usage, system synchronization, backups, and performance monitoring. Ensure timely submission of weekly and monthly reports and assist teams in meeting reporting deadlines. Extract and manage routine and ad hoc datasets, maintaining data lifecycle, versioning, and integrity. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to standardize data handling and maintain data quality. Participate in data quality assurance, quality improvement, and departmental planning activities. Supervise and mentor Data Coordinators and Associates in data use, reporting, and technical support. Train staff on data collection, entry procedures, and resolving common system issues. Support the development and maintenance of data storage applications and approved software in line with organizational policies. Maintain inventories of equipment, software, licenses, and backups, ensuring proper documentation and monitoring. Monitor backup logs, helpdesk systems, and data support processes to comply with business continuity and information security standards. Qualifications and Experience Diploma in Computing/ICT, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Experience providing IT support is advantageous. Previous work in a health-related organization is preferred. Experience supporting or deploying DHIS2, SmartCare Pro, or other electronic health record systems is an asset. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or ITIL will be an added advantage. Strong skills in LAN deployment and troubleshooting. Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python. Database management experience with RDBMS such as MS SQL Server or MySQL. Basic knowledge of SmartCare Pro database architecture and synchronization processes.
