DAPP Zambia is a local registered NGO and has been operating in Zambia for 40 years. Currently working across all 10 provinces, reaching over 1 million people with development projects and employing more than 1,000 staff. Thematic areas include agriculture, environment, climate change adaptation and mitigation, health, education and integrated community development. As a member of the Federation Humana People to People, it receives technical support and also runs a fundraising enterprise of selling second-hand clothes and shoes donated from Europe. DAPP in Zambia is seeking an enthusiastic, qualified and committed individual to fill the position of Project Leader under Fish, Nursery and Vegetable Farming in Children’s Town. The position involves running a professional and profitable modern fish farming enterprise in a greenhouse setting which is linked to vegetable and tree nursery production and high value vegetable production. The position needs a person who is willing to learn from the engaged consultant. This position will be based in Malambanyama – Chibombo, Children’s Town and will report to the Project Leadership. KEY ACTIVITIES: Fish Farming (a) Taking care of the fishponds. (b) Ensure a conducive environment for the fish with well-planned feeding timetables. (c) Establish and implement a system for control to ensure that the fish is safeguarded with the help of the Security Guards. (d) Marketing of the fish locally with expansion to other districts when production increases. (e) Ensure proper record keeping of production and business transactions. (f) Engage Students in the Youth Academy to learn the appropriate skills. Nursery / Vegetable Production (g) Run a professional nursery of vegetables ensuring high and quality production. (h) Ensure proper marketing of the seedlings. (i) Ensure proper record keeping of production and business transactions. (j) Grow the vegetable production for wider market consumption. (k) Ensure proper record keeping of production and business transactions. Required qualifications (a) Grade 12 certificate with good grades. (b) Certificate in Agriculture or higher. (c) Good knowledge and passion for agriculture. (d) Demonstrated entrepreneurship and business skills. (e) Excellent report writing and communication skills. (f) Academic/professional qualifications must be verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) when requested for.
