Job description: Role Purpose The Coordinator – Asset Management is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of asset management practices across the Smelter. The role focuses on asset performance monitoring, asset health reporting, lifecycle management, maintenance strategy optimization, and data-driven decision-making to improve equipment reliability, availability, and cost effectiveness. The incumbent will coordinate asset management activities, maintain asset integrity systems and databases, support reliability improvement initiatives, and work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, and Operations teams to ensure optimal asset performance throughout the asset lifecycle. The role will contribute to achieving business objectives through effective asset performance management, asset optimization initiatives, risk reduction activities, and compliance with company asset management standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities Asset Management Support the implementation and maintenance of the Smelter Asset Management Framework and associated standards in collaboration with the Group Asset Management Team. Assist in developing and maintaining asset strategies for critical smelter equipment and infrastructure. Monitor asset health indicators and performance metrics to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities. Maintain accurate asset registers, hierarchy structures, equipment criticality assessments, and lifecycle records. Coordinate periodic asset condition assessments and asset health reviews. Support the development of long-term asset replacement, refurbishment, and capital renewal plans. Assist with asset risk assessments and identification of mitigation measures. Analyse lifecycle costs and provide recommendations for asset optimization improvements. Ensure asset information within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) remains accurate and up to date. Support engineering teams in developing business cases for asset upgrades and improvement projects. Reliability and Performance Monitoring Monitor equipment reliability performance through KPI tracking and data analysis. Collect, analyse, and report on asset reliability, availability, maintainability, and utilization data. Support Area Engineers in Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and related improvement studies. Identify recurring equipment failures and assist in developing reliability improvement initiatives. Support implementation of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs. Generate periodic reliability and asset performance reports for management review. Assist in identifying reliability improvement opportunities using engineering and operational data from PI and RtDUET. Asset Information and Analytics Skills in using data analysis software and tools to extract insights from process and engineering data Develop and maintain asset performance dashboards and reports using Power BI and other reporting tools. Maintain asset management KPIs and performance scorecards. Support data collection and analysis for budget planning and asset management decision-making. Utilize asset performance data to identify cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities. Assist with digital asset management initiatives and implementation of asset analytics systems. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual asset performance reports according to the Group Asset Management standards. Asset Strategy and Maintenance Optimization Support reviews and optimization of maintenance strategies for critical equipment. Assist in evaluating preventive maintenance effectiveness and recommend improvements. Support critical equipment reviews and maintenance task analyses. Assist maintenance planners and engineers with asset strategy updates and work management and work instructions improvements. Contribute to spare parts optimization initiatives through analysis of equipment criticality and maintenance history. Support shutdown planning teams by providing asset-related information and performance trending. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities for improving asset performance, maintenance effectiveness, and lifecycle costs. Support implementation of continuous improvement projects using structured improvement methodologies. Participate in cross-functional asset improvement initiatives. Assist in benchmarking asset management practices against industry standards and best practices. Monitor outcomes of improvement initiatives and report achieved benefits. Promote a culture of reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Comply with all company policies, procedures, legal requirements, and industry standards relating to safety, health, environment, and quality. Demonstrate visible felt leadership and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and promote safe work practices in all asset management activities. Ensure asset management activities align with company safety and environmental requirements. Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation where required. Cross-functional stakeholder coordination and collaboration. Problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements. Integrate SHEQ requirements into all asset management and maintenance activities for the smelter. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline Certification in Asset Management, or Reliability Engineering will be an added advantage Power BI or advanced analytic training will also be an added advantage Experience At least 5 years’ experience in maintenance, reliability, asset management or engineering role in the mining/mineral processing industry. Smelter experience will be an added advantage. Demonstrated experience with the development and implementation of asset management strategies, maintenance frameworks and reliability improvement programs. Demonstrated experience in the development of reports and KPIs through data driven decision-making. Demonstrated experience in asset performance monitoring and reliability improvement initiatives. Demonstrated experience in RCA reviews and asset strategy optimization Experience in managing and optimizing preventive and condition-based maintenance programs. Power BI skills and knowledge Exposure to digital asset management technologies, and analytics platforms. Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communications, planning and organizing Experience with the use of a computerized maintenance management system (such as PRONTO, SAP or similar systems) Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) Exposure to ISO 55000 Asset Management principles Behavioural Traits Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyse equipment performance data, identify trends, diagnose issues, and support the implementation of effective solutions.
