Filming for Senzeni has officially wrapped, director Cosmas Ng’andwe announced this week, sparking celebration on set.

Ng’andwe, the Lusaka-born filmmaker and CEO of Cosca Films, shared a behind-the-scenes video on his Facebook page on Thursday, 6 July, showing cast and crew marking the end of production. He is best known locally as an actor, comedian and master of ceremonies, and won the AMVCA Trailblazer award and a Ngoma Award in 2025, cementing his status as one of Zambia’s most recognisable young filmmakers. Senzeni marks one of his most ambitious projects yet, bringing established Nollywood names into a Zambian-led production.

Nollywood veteran Kanayo O Kanayo featured in the clip, praising his time working with the team. Born Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, he arrived in Zambia on 26 July 2026 to take up one of the film’s lead roles. He is best known for characters tied to ritual sacrifice for wealth, a theme that fits the film’s premise.

Fellow Nollywood actor Tony Umez also joins the cast. Umez started out in stage plays during secondary school before entering Nollywood in 1993. His first two roles went unpaid, prompting a brief break from acting. He returned in 1997 with The Princess, then built his reputation with the 1998 hit Died Wretched.

Ng’andwe used the video to tease the film’s trailer, due for release soon, and confirmed Senzeni will premiere in November.

The title translates to “what have we done?” Senzeni follows a young man whose search for the truth about his family’s past pulls him into a web of secrets and betrayal, forcing him to decide what legacies are worth fighting for.
