Speaking during the inspection of the US$650 Million road project, President Hichilema described the works as impressive and a true reflection of the desired quality.
The Head of State said the UPND will continue implementing impactful developmental projects once given another mandate to preside over national affairs.
“I am very impressed with the progress of works on this important road. The quality is good and the contractor is on course to finish the works within the stipulated time frame,” President Hichilema said.
He said the upgrading of the Lusaka-Ndola road to a dual carriageway will reduce road traffic accidents and congestion.
President Hichilema also announced that the government will soon upgrade the Mumbwa-Landless corner road to bituminous standard.
“We will prioritise the locals during the recruitment of the casual workers for this road,” President Hichilema assured.
And the President further urged Zambians to vote for UPND in the August 13 General Elections for continued development.
He cautioned the electorate against experimenting with national leadership.
President Hichilema charged that National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu have nothing to offer.
He said there is nothing new about the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance as the political grouping has the same ideologies with the Patriotic Front (PF), adding that the alliance cannot be trusted.
The President noted that this year’s elections are crucial for Zambia and urged the electorate to ensure that the political and economic stability the country has recorded in the last five years is sustained by voting for the UPND at all levels.
On the 2026 crop marketing season, President Hichilema said FRA will in the next few days open satellite depots to start buying maize from the farmers.
The Head of State inspected road works from Lusaka to Chibombo to appreciate the progress made so far.
