Super Division champions Power Dynamos have been drawn against Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in the preliminary round of the 2026-27 CAF Champions League.

‎According to draws conducted today, Power will be away to Al Merreikh on the weekend of 4-6 September before hosting the return leg a week later in Ndola.

‎The winner over two legs will advance to face either JS Saoura of Algeria or Horoya FC of Guinea in the pre-group stage between 16-18 October, with the return leg set for 23-25 October.

‎Power coach Oswald Mutapa said preparations will be key ahead of the encounter.

‎“Yes the draws are out but it is all about preparations. Playing against Al Merreikh which we don’t know much about but we have to find out how they have been doing the last three years,” Mutapa said.

‎“Our target is to do better than we did in the previous Champions League. It won’t be easy but we have to push and reach the quarterfinals,”_ he added.

‎Power reached the group stage of the Champions League last season, and will be aiming to go further this campaign.
