Zambia : Ndaitwah, Boko Arrive For HH Inauguration

Namibian President Netumbo Ndaitwah has arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport ahead of the inauguration of Zambia’s President-elect, Hakainde Hichilema.

The President was received at the Presidential Pavilion by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and Namibian High Commission staff.

Namibia and Zambia share deep historical ties rooted in solidarity, liberation and mutual respect.

Zambia and Namibia enjoy strong bilateral relations anchored on trade, transport, energy, water and defense cooperation.

The Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lusaka Development Corridor remains a flagship project linking Zambia to Namibia’s Walvis Bay Port, providing Zambia with a direct and efficient route to international markets.

Both countries have continued to invest in upgrading road, rail and border infrastructure to facilitate trade.

In the energy sector, the two countries cooperate through the Zambezi Watercourse Commission and joint projects on hydropower and transmission.

Namibia also imports electricity from Zambia during periods of surplus, while Zambia benefits from Namibia’s port and logistics services.

The two nations also collaborate in agriculture, tourism, education and health and Hundreds of students from both countries study across each other’s institutions, and cross-border trade in livestock, maize and manufactured goods continues to grow.

Meanwhile, Botswana’s President Duma Boko touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport ahead of the inauguration of Zambia’s President-elect, Hakainde Hichilema.

Botswana and Zambia have walked together for decades in pursuit of democracy, good governance and regional development

Zambia and Botswana share strong bilateral relations anchored on trade, energy, transport, tourism and water resource management.

The two countries cooperate closely through the Kazungula Bridge, which has become a key trade and transport link connecting Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The bridge has significantly reduced transit times and boosted cross-border trade under the SADC and AfCFTA frameworks.

Botswana and Zambia are collaborating on power transmission and renewable energy projects to address regional power deficits.

The two countries also share the Zambezi River basin and work together through SADC structures on sustainable water management.
