Zambia : Eswatini, Tanzania, Zimbabwe Present At HH Inauguration

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Thulisile Dladla, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe have arrived in the country, ahead of the inauguration of Zambia’s President-elect Hakainde Hichilema.

All three leaders were received at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport Presidential Pavilion by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and envoys from their respective missions.

Eswatini and Zambia share a bond rooted in history, culture and the liberation struggle.

Zambia and Eswatini enjoy cordial relations anchored on trade, education, health and cultural exchange within SADC.

Both countries cooperate in agriculture, with exchange programmes in sugar, livestock and small-scale farming.

Eswatini has expertise in sugar production and agro-processing, while Zambia offers opportunities in maize, horticulture and agro-industrial development.

Zambia and Tanzania share one of the strongest partnerships in the region, dating back to the liberation struggle.

The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority, TAZARA, links Dar es Salaam Port to Zambia and facilitates trade in copper, fuel, maize and manufactured goods. Both countries are working to modernise TAZARA to boost efficiency.

Tanzania is a major gateway for Zambian imports and exports through Dar es Salaam Port, trade includes copper, cement and agricultural products from Zambia, and fuel, building materials and consumer goods from Tanzania.

Zambia and Zimbabwe share historical, cultural and economic ties which includes Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River are symbols of the shared heritage and tourism potential between the two nations.

Trade between Harare and Lusaka continues to grow, with Zimbabwe exporting manufactured goods, steel, agriculture products and energy equipment, while Zambia exports copper, maize, cement and electricity.

Both countries are key partners in the North-South Corridor, which links the region to ports in South Africa and Mozambique.

The two governments cooperate closely in energy through the Kariba Dam and the Zambezi River Authority, in agriculture, mining, and tourism.

Thousands of Zambians and Zimbabweans live and work across the border, strengthening family and business ties.
