The 14th Session of the Mozambique–Zambia Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) on Defence and Security, which commenced on September 9 in Maputo, Mozambique, concluded yesterday, September 11, 2026.

The Commission expressed deep appreciation to Presidents Daniel Chapo of Mozambique and Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia for their support in convening this important session, noting that it underscores the strong and historic relations between the two nations.

The Commission also reviewed political, socio‑economic, and security developments since the 13th Session in Chilanga, Zambia, noting with satisfaction that the political situation in both countries has remained relatively stable.

The Zambian delegation, which was led by Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamaundu, thanked the Mozambican government and its people for their warm hospitality.

As the session closed, Zambia extended an invitation to Mozambique to participate in the 15th Session, scheduled to be held in Zambia in 2027, with details to be communicated through diplomatic channels.

This was contained in a joint press statement issued to the media by the Republic of Mozambique and Zambia Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security.
