AIPAC BACKS GOVERNMENT’S DECISION TO REVOKE PASSPORTS OF SIX ZAMBIANS

The Acton Institute for Policy Analysis Center (AIPAC) has backed  government’s decision to revoke the passports of six Zambians, including former Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba, but has called for transparency on how the government is engaging with the host countries of those affected.

Yesterday Government cancelled the passports  belonging to Former Petauke Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Banda, former Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu, Kaizer Zulu, Academician Sishuwa Sishuwa and Social media vlogger Lillian Mutambo citing security concerns.

Speaking to Hot FM News, AIPAC Executive Director Solomon Ngoma says the government should explain how it intends to bring the affected individuals back to Zambia, noting that some of them have been recognised as asylum seekers in the countries where they are currently staying.

Mr. Ngoma says some of the affected individuals may have committed offences online, while others are suspected of having committed offences in Zambia before fleeing the country.
