Zambia : Kanchibiya Council Launches Sports Club Registration Exercise

The Kanchibiya Town Council has launched an exercise which will see the registration of sports clubs in all sports disciplines across the district.

The local authority has since tasked sports coordinators to ensure that a minimum of two clubs are registered within their respective wards.

Speaking in a telephone interview today, Acting Kanchibiya Council Secretary Augustine Chanda said only registered clubs holding a valid Council Certificate of Registration will be permitted to participate in the community sports tournaments that would be organized by the local authority.

Chanda said only registered clubs will be eligible to contribute players for selection to district teams that will represent the province at national events.

He added that only registered clubs will receive support from the local authority in the form of sports materials and will be recognized by their respective Sports Federations and Associations at provincial and national levels.

Chanda disclosed that for a club to obtain a Certificate of Registration from the Local Authority, they are required to submit copies of their Club Constitution, Meeting Minutes, List of Members, and a TPIN certificate.

He said the registration fee for a club is K250 and shall be paid to the Department of Finance.

Meanwhile, Kanchibiya Town Council Community Development Officer Joseph Nkazi also stressed the importance of registration, urging clubs to complete the process to enable them to benefit from different incentives.

Nkazi said unregistered clubs risk missing out on significant opportunities including tournament participation, district team selection, sports materials support, and national federation recognition.

“We urge all sports clubs in the district to take advantage of this registration exercise. Registration opens doors to many opportunities that will benefit both the clubs and the players,” Nkazi said.
