Zambia : CSC Commences Recruitment Process Of Volunteer Health Workers

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has commenced the recruitment process of volunteer health workers into the civil service, with the validation of applications already underway in three provinces.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Civil Service Commission Chairperson, Choolwe Beyani, said the commission has immediately begun the necessary processes to implement the Presidential directive in line with its constitutional mandate.

 Dr Beyani added that the commission has so far completed the collection of application documents from Muchinga, Northern and Luapula Provinces, where the President initially issued the directive, and has since begun validating the applications.

He explained that the validation process is aimed at ensuring all applications conform to the President’s directive before the recruitment process proceeds to the next stage.

“This is a national exercise with heightened public interest and will be undertaken with the urgency it deserves,” Dr Beyani said.

Dr Beyani also disclosed that the commission will soon commence the same exercise in the remaining provinces where the President has issued similar directives to ensure every eligible volunteer health worker is correctly captured.

He assured volunteer health workers that the commission appreciates their dedication in providing healthcare services while awaiting formal employment and is treating the exercise with the seriousness it deserves.

“Once the validation process has been concluded, the commission will, through the media, formally communicate the way forward, including the appointment process, placement arrangements and the subsequent issuance of appointment letters,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Beyani reiterated that the nationwide recruitment of 2,600 health workers is still on course, with the application deadline remaining August 7, 2026.

He said all applications must be submitted through the Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST), warning that applications submitted directly to the Civil Service Commission, the Public Service Management Division or the Ministry of Health will not be considered.

He further announced that all applicants for the 2,600 positions will be required to verify their application details from September 1 to 11, 2026, at Provincial Health Offices for medical doctors and pharmacists, and District Health Offices for all other health categories.

Dr Beyani further clarified that individuals who applied during the 2023 health worker recruitment exercise are required to re-submit applications in order to establish an updated and verified database, reflecting their current qualifications and preferred districts of deployment.

He also warned members of the public against fraudulent online recruitment portals purporting to be operated by the Civil Service Commission, stressing that the commission does not conduct online recruitment.

Dr Beyani appealed to the media to continue disseminating verified and accurate information on both the health worker recruitment exercise and the implementation of the Presidential directive.
