WYNTER KABIMBA WARNS CONDUCT OF SOME PUBLIC OFFICIALS HAS POTENTIAL TO MAKE SITTING HEAD OF STATE UNPOPULAR

Economic Front Party President winter Kabimba has charged that the conduct of some police officers and public officials has the potential to inadvertently make a sitting head of state unpopular through actions that create a perception that state institutions are being used for political purposes.
Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of Let the People Talk program on Phoenix FM, Mr. Kabimba said instead of strengthening the presidency, some officials within institutions such as the Zambia Police are making decisions they believe will please the head of state, when in fact they are damaging public confidence in his administration.
He said the president is, in many instances, unaware of the actions of such officials, who mistakenly believe they are protecting him while undermining the credibility and independence of public institutions.
Mr. Kabimba said Zambia’s public institutions can only command public trust if they are allowed to operate independently and free from political interference.
