A Lusaka woman has told a local court that she slept with her husband’s best friend only twice, despite the friend claiming their affair happened so many times he had apparently lost count.

The unusual admission came before the Chelstone Local Court, where 27-year-old Joseph Mwabula of Kasisi Compound sued his best friend, Praise Mutokone, after allegedly discovering that his friend had been helping himself to what Joseph considered strictly matrimonial territory.

Joseph, an electrician, told the court that trouble started on a day when he was feeling unwell and decided to knock off from work early, hoping to find his wife at home preparing something to eat.

Instead, he allegedly found his best friend emerging from the spare bedroom.

It was, in other words, one of those days when a man returns home looking for food and ends up discovering that somebody else has been helping himself to the household menu.

Joseph said the discovery gave him such an emotional shock that the “love current” he had for his wife was switched off immediately.

As an electrician, Joseph presumably knew exactly which switch to reach for.
