Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa gave congregants quite the Sunday spectacle today when he presented a staggering US$1 million in cash during a church service, money donated by businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo towards the construction of a new church.

Stack upon stack of crisp banknotes lined the altar as Makandiwa stood before the congregation, turning what would normally be a routine building fund into a very literal mountain of money.

The eye-catching display immediately became the talking point, with the sheer volume of cash making the church-building project impossible to miss.

Chivayo, who has previously made headline-grabbing donations to religious and community projects, is funding the latest contribution towards the construction of Makandiwa’s church.

This time, the building fund didn’t come with a pledge card, it came in bundles.
