UPND’s Mweetwa retains Choma Central seat

UPND candidate Cornelius Mweetwa has been declared duly elected Member of Parliament for Choma Central Constituency after polling 18,495 votes. Returning Officer Rebecca Kalumba announced the results at 13:40 hours, confirming Mr. Mweetwa’s victory over Independent candidate Baker Chakwana who received 14,803 votes. Independent Rodwell Nzoolo polled 349 votes. (the newsroom, Monday, 17th August, 2026)
