WARREN Mwambazi has retained the Bwana Mukubwa parliamentary seat in Ndola after polling 9,950 votes on the United Party for National Development ticket. Mwambazi, who previously served as an independent Member of Parliament, will now return to the National Assembly as a UPND lawmaker. He emerged victorious in a seven-candidate race. Resolute Party candidate Sam Chiti finished second with 9,833 votes, while former Minister of Health Dr. Jonas Chanda polled 8,467 votes. Independent candidate Charles Kaputula received 983 votes, followed by New Focus Party’s Benjamin Nduba with 631 votes. Independent Thompson Chipoka polled 583 votes, and Brown Libwesha received 319 votes. A total of 31,468 votes were cast, of which 702 ballot papers were rejected as invalid.
