TWO ZIMBABWEANS ARRESTED OVER P375,000 ROBBERY OF 3 BOTSWANA BUSINESSMEN

Botswana Police Service (BPS) has made a breakthrough after arresting three men for robbing three businessmen in Maun of P375,000 (US$28,000) cash and property valued at P80,000 (US$5,970).

Police said the robbery occurred on 5 June 2026, with two suspects arrested on 19 August 2026 and another on 22 August 2026 following intensified operations against organised and violent crime.

The suspects have been identified as Donald Sibanda (42) and Lyghton Nembaware (39), both Zimbabwean nationals, and Bonnie Secha (42), a Motswana man from Maun. BPS has also released the mug shots of the suspects.

Further investigations established that the two Zimbabwean nationals were already on the BPS Wanted List for alleged involvement in several outstanding cases, including robberies, break-ins, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition and other serious offences committed in Gaborone, Mogoditshane and Francistown.

Investigations also revealed that Nembaware had been declared a Prohibited Immigrant (PI) in Botswana in 2007.

The three accused appeared before the Maun Magistrates’ Court on 25 August 2026 facing one count of robbery. They were remanded in prison pending further investigations and are expected to reappear on 8 September 2026.
