LUSAKA MAYORAL SEAT PETITIONED

Lusaka Mayoral seat candidate Gabriel Kibombwe, who stood on the NRPUP ticket, has petitioned the election of Mayor-Elect for the City of Lusaka, Chitambala Mwewa.

In a statement, Mr. Kibombwe said:

"Lusaka Residents, I have exercised my constitutional right to get an explanation from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) on how your votes were counted.

From the constituency announcement forms, the records of proceedings, and GEN20A forms issued by ECZ officials to me, my total votes are more than the total votes announced for the declared candidate.

Therefore, this petition gives ECZ an opportunity to correct any human error that may have occurred during data entry and/or results announcement."
