LUSAKA — TONSE Alliance backed NRP-UP parliamentary candidate for Matero, Patrick Mwamba Salubusa, has decided not to petition the outcome of the August 13, 2026 general election, saying he has chosen to leave the matter in God’s hands.

Salubusa said the decision followed prayer and reflection during yesterday’s English Mass at Lilanda Catholic Church, where he considered whether to pursue justice through the courts or through prayer.

“I will not petition,” Salubusa said.

He said his decision was not motivated by fear, bitterness or defeat, but by what he described as God’s guidance after taking time to reflect on the election and its outcome.

“Sometimes, we ask God for justice when He is asking us to demonstrate grace,” he said.

Salubusa, who contested the Matero seat on the Resolute Party ticket, said he campaigned with conviction and served the people who placed their confidence in him, adding that he had no regrets about the political journey.

“I choose peace,” he said.

He said he believed God’s plans for his life and Matero Constituency were greater than his political ambitions and that he had therefore decided not to pursue the matter through the courts.

“I choose to leave this issue in God’s hands,” Salubusa said.

He thanked everyone who voted for him, supported his campaign and encouraged him throughout the election, saying he would remember their confidence in him.

“May God bless Matero. May God bless Zambia,” he said.
