NRP-UP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and running mate Makebi Zulu today held what organisers described as a mega campaign rally in Chinsali, the provincial capital of Muchinga Province and home district associated with Zambia’s freedom icons Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe and Kenneth Kaunda.

Thousands of residents assembled for the event as the opposition campaign continued its mobilisation ahead of the August elections.

One of the emotional moments of the rally came when a freedom fighter who had been introduced to the crowd later walked toward the stage and publicly offered blessings to Mundubile and Makebi.

Also introduced to the gathering was Mulenga Kapwepwe, alongside senior political figures including former Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kapyongo.

Addressing supporters, Kapyongo described Chinsali as a place of historical significance and told the crowd that the rally symbolised what he called “another independence” expected in August. He also urged supporters to protect their vote.
