STATE House says the opposition’s main campaign strategy is copying Government policies instead of presenting original ideas.

Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka accused opposition parties of recycling President Hakainde Hichilema’s programmes on mining, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, education, healthcare and public sector recruitment.

Hamasaka said the opposition “had their turn in office” but left behind debt, weakened institutions and stalled development. He said the only major policy that appears to be unique to them is providing marketeers with excavators for use in markets such as Soweto and Chisokone.

“They resemble students who spent the entire term sleeping in class, only to demand copies of the brightest pupil’s answers during the examination,” Hamasaka said.

He argued that by adopting Government policies, the opposition is effectively endorsing President Hichilema’s agenda and that there is little basis for a policy debate.

“Original ideas win arguments. Photocopies merely remind people where the original came from,” he said.
