…as they complain about being called prostitutes due to lack of jobs

Some women in Sinoma, Chongwe Constituency have disclosed to Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu that they are being labeled as prostitutes for allegedly going after married men for survival due to lack of employment opportunities.

Njobvu made a stopover in the area as part of his continued interactions with citizens ahead of the 13th August general elections.

The women bemoaned harsh economic times for the unemployed, saying some of them were left with no option but to seek other means of survival.

“Things are hard. When there are no jobs, people will do anything to put food on the table,” one of the women told Njobvu.

Meanwhile, some mothers* complained of lack of water in the community. They said the only source of water at the Sinoma plant is costly for households, with residents being charged between K2 to K20 for the commodity.

Further, others cried for the construction of a health facility in the area. They said expectant mothers have for a long time suffered in accessing medical services and are forced to travel long distances.

In response, Njobvu urged the community to elect leaders who will prioritize their needs when the country goes to the polls next month.

He added that the DU remains the best political grouping that is focused on creating a better Zambia.

Njobvu said issues of jobs, water and health must be treated as urgent by whoever forms government after August 13.
