RUSSIAN GENERAL CALLS FOR DIRECT STRIKES AGAINST NATO

Tensions are rising in Moscow’s rhetoric as retired Russian Lieutenant General and State Duma deputy Andrei Gurulyov reportedly called for direct military action against NATO.

Speaking in an interview carried by Tsargrad, Gurulyov argued that Ukraine is being used as a “front line” by Western powers against Russia.

He identified two potential targets:

🔹 Western satellites providing intelligence and battlefield support to Ukraine.

🔹 NATO logistics and military infrastructure, particularly bases in Poland involved in supplying weapons to Ukraine.

His message was blunt: “We must strike NATO.”

⚠️ WHY IT MATTERS

Such rhetoric reflects increasingly hardline voices within Russia’s military and political establishment calling for confrontation beyond Ukraine.

A direct Russian attack on a NATO member could trigger Article 5, potentially transforming the war in Ukraine into a direct Russia NATO confrontation and dramatically increasing the risk of a wider conflict.

However, Gurulyov is known for his particularly hawkish views, and his comments do not represent an official declaration of Russian government policy.

For now, these remain statements rather than evidence of an imminent Russian decision to attack NATO.

But the rhetoric highlights the growing danger surrounding the war: any deliberate strike on NATO territory could create an escalation far beyond the current battlefield.
