RE: RESPONSE TO DR. FRED M’MEMBE’S ATTACKS ON MR. BRIAN MUNDUBILE – YOUTHS REJECT DIVISIVE POLITICS

The Youth Alliance Zambia and Youth for Change have noted with deep disappointment the unwarranted and misleading remarks made by Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M’membe against NRPUP Presidential Candidate Mr. Brian Mundubile.

We categorically state that Dr. M’membe’s allegations are false, baseless, and a desperate attempt to divert attention from his own lack of a coherent agenda for Zambia’s youth.

1. Brian Mundubile Has What It Takes to Lead

Mr. Mundubile’s record as Northern Province Minister speaks for itself. Under his leadership, key infrastructure projects were initiated, rural electrification expanded, and agricultural support reached remote areas. He worked within the constraints of national resources and delivered tangible results. To claim he “failed” is to ignore the facts on the ground and insult the people of Northern Province who saw his work firsthand.

More importantly, Mr. Mundubile has matured through experience. The past five years have been a period of reflection, consultation, and rebuilding. He is not the same politician of 2021 – he is a refined leader with a clear vision for economic revival, job creation, and national unity.

2. Dr. M’membe Should Not Divide the Nation

Zambia does not need leaders who thrive on insults and historical bitterness. Dr. M’membe’s attack on Mr. Mundubile is not constructive criticism – it is a divisive tactic aimed at sowing distrust among Zambians. We call on him to focus on his own campaigns and tell Zambians, especially the youth, what he will do differently, rather than wasting time tearing others down.

3. The Youth Demand Solutions, Not Sideshows

As young Zambians, we are tired of politicians who offer only criticism without solutions. We want to hear

· How will you create jobs?
· How will you reduce the cost of living?
· How will you include youth in decision-making?

Mr. Mundubile has engaged us directly. He has listened to our concerns and co-created policies with youth organisations. Dr. M’membe has not done the same.

4. Defections Are Not a Crime – They Are Democracy in Action

Dr. M’membe’s attack on political defections is hypocritical. Zambians have the right to associate with parties that align with their current values. What matters is integrity in action, not permanence in one party. Mr. Mundubile has shown consistency in his commitment to national service, regardless of the party label.

5. Final Call: Unite, Don’t Divide

We urge Dr. M’membe to withdraw his divisive language and instead engage in issue-based politics. Zambia belongs to all of us. The 2026 elections must be about ideas, not insults.

We, the youth, stand with Mr. Brian Mundubile because he represents a future we can believe in – one of unity, opportunity, and progress.
