Putin Warns

Erdogan That Sending U.S.-Made Weapons From Turkish Stockpiles to Ukraine Could Damage Moscow-Ankara Ties

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan against transferring U.S.-made missiles and other weapons held in Turkey’s military stockpiles to Ukraine.

According to Russian state broadcaster RT, Putin said such a move would negatively affect relations between Moscow and Ankara.

The warning reportedly came after U.S. President Donald Trump asked Erdogan to consider providing Ukraine with some U.S.-produced missiles currently held by the Turkish military.

The reported request comes amid concerns over declining U.S. weapons inventories following the conflict with Iran, while Ukraine continues to face shortages of key military equipment and ammunition.

Moscow is reportedly seeking to prevent Ankara from transferring weapons to Kyiv that could strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities on the battlefield against Russian forces.

Turkey maintains defense and diplomatic ties with both Russia and Ukraine and has attempted to preserve its role as a mediator despite Ankara’s NATO membership and military cooperation with Kyiv.

If Turkey were to transfer additional U.S.-supplied weapons to Ukraine, the move could further complicate its relationship with Moscow, particularly as Russia continues to closely monitor NATO members’ military support for Kyiv.

The Kremlin has not publicly confirmed the specific details of the reported warning, while the Turkish government has not announced any decision to transfer weapons from its stockpiles to Ukraine.
