Economic Freedom Fighters President Kasonde Mwenda has alleged that the will of Zambians was not reflected in the announced results of the August 13 election, saying “our vote was stolen” and that Alliance members faced intimidation and harassment.

In a statement addressed to Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance President Brian Mundubile and the entire Alliance Executive, Mwenda expressed gratitude for being entrusted to serve on the Dubai Ballot Printing Observatory Mission and on the National Election Results Centre Observatory Delegation at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

“It was an honour to serve our Alliance and our country in this important moment. I remain deeply appreciative of the trust you placed in me,” Mwenda said.

He extended his message to the people of Zambia and to members of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance, whom he referred to as “ba mwana BM8”.

“Thank you for the courage, determination and extraordinary spirit you demonstrated throughout this election. You stood up, you showed up, and you exercised your democratic right to vote. You carried the hopes and aspirations of countless Zambians with dignity and conviction,” Mwenda stated.

“It’s unfortunate that our vote was stolen, our people intimidated and harassed.”

Mwenda congratulated Alliance members, saying “Mwabombeni. Congratulations!”

Acknowledging the mood among supporters following the announcement of results, Mwenda said “Today, as the announced election results confront us with a moment of profound disappointment and concern, I know that many hearts are heavy. Many of us believe that the will we expressed at the ballot box has not been faithfully reflected in the outcome that has been announced.”

He urged Alliance members not to lose hope. “But let us not despair. We have walked too far, endured too much and believed too deeply to allow this moment to define the end of our journey. We remain a people of faith, courage and resilience. We believe that God is not absent from this story, even when the road before us is difficult and uncertain.”

Mwenda invoked a Bemba phrase in his message, declaring “It is not over, until God says it’s over, KALASANIKA PeLampi.”

On the Alliance’s next steps, Mwenda said the leadership was engaged in consultations. “The Alliance leadership has retreated into deep consultations. The necessary processes are underway, and the leadership will communicate the next course of action regarding the announced election results as soon as possible.”

He also addressed concerns about missing party members. “We are also actively working to establish the whereabouts and welfare of leaders and members whose presence we have been unable to account for.”

Mwenda appealed for calm amid the tension. “Above all, remain peaceful.”

He ended his statement with a message of resolve. “We have hope that refuses to die and Wherever we want to go our feet will take us there.”
