President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians to reject politicians who have regrouped under a new political alliance to avoid reversing the good works of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND).

President Hichilema says there is need for the electorate across the country to thoroughly scrutinise presidential candidates ahead of the August 13, 2026 general elections.

Speaking during a community engagement at Council ground in Chisamba, the President said National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate, Brian Mundubile, and his running mate Makebi Zulu, have nothing to offer.

“Those two who want to come back to government are just copying what the UPND is doing and have nothing to offer. The things they are promising are the same things the UPND has done and is implementing in various sectors,” he said.

President Hichilema further said UPND remains committed to implementing programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.

He noted that the enactment of free education into law, increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), implementation of school feeding programmes and continued implementation of developmental projects have been made possible by sound government policies.

And President Hichilema has said the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) will soon announce the maize floor price, adding that farmers will be paid within three days of supplying maize to the agency.

The Head of State also assured the people of Chisamba of a district hospital, improved road network and communication network.

“We need to continue with the good works we have done. If voted back into office, we will increase the number of FISP and Social Cash Transfer (SCT) beneficiaries,” he said.

“Don’t be cheated by crooks who are promoting things they cannot deliver,” Mr Hichilema said.

He further urged the electorate to vote for him and all the UPND candidates to ensure more jobs and wealth creation for the benefit of all citizens.

And UPND National Chairman, Collins Maoma, urged the electorate to vote for President Hichilema for continued development.

Mr Maoma cautioned the electorate against voting for politicians who do not have anything to offer as doing so would reverse the economic gains the country has recorded in the last five years.
