The Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) has revealed that it is expecting to list one more firm on the platform in the fourth quarter of 2026, in addition to the nine firms currently in the pipeline for listing.

In the first quarter of 2026, the Zambian Business Times-ZBT reported that the number of equity company listings on the Lusaka Securities Exchange remained below 30, decades after the exchange’s establishment, despite various interventions aimed at boosting participation.

ZBT further reported that according to the Securities and Exchange Commission-SEC, nine firms were in the development pipeline as of the first quarter of 2026, surpassing the medium-term end-2027 target of eight firms.

However, speaking in an interview with Zambian Business Times-ZBT, LuSE Chief Executive Officer, Nicholas Kabaso indicated that nine firms are still in the pipeline as the exchange heads into the fourth quarter.

Kabaso said the exchange expects one of the firms to overcome the remaining hurdles and proceed towards listing during the fourth quarter.

“Nine are still in the pipeline, and we expect one to come through this quarter because we have managed to pull through the last hurdle we had on it,” he said.

Kabaso explained that the firm pipeline remains active, with manufacturing, property, financial growth and mining among the key sectors represented.

 “The pipeline remains very active, and the key sectors where these firms are coming from include manufacturing, property, growth financial and mining,” he said.

Kabaso added that the exchange is also working on introducing a new product within the same period as it continues efforts to deepen activity on the market. “We are waiting for one product to come to market, and we are working on introducing that product within the same period, so those are the ones that are very eminent,” he said.
