The Provincial Administration in Northern Province has launched the province’s service delivery charter.

The Service Delivery Charter guarantees accessible, efficient and responsive public services for the local communities.

Speaking when she unveiled the document during the second quarter Provincial Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) meeting in Kasama district yesterday, Northern Province Acting Permanent Secretary Beauty Undi-Phiri urged public service officers to align their operations with the charter’s guidelines and ensure that services are delivered in a manner that responds to the needs of the people.

 Ms Undi-Phiri highlighted the significant milestones achieved by the government since taking office in 2021, citing decentralisation as a major development.

She noted that the province has recorded notable progress during this tenure pointing out the increase in Constituency Development Fund (CDF), allocation from K1.6 million to K40 million, which she said has empowered communities to implement projects that respond to local needs.

“This year marks a significant milestone as we reflect on the five years of implementing the United Party for National Development government’s vision as outlined in the manifesto and the 8th National Development Plan. During this period the province has recorded notable progress including the increased CDF from K1.6 million to K40 million,” she said.

“Government has spearheaded the constitution amendments that have seen an increased number of constituencies following the delimitation exercise which will result in increased allocation of the Constituency Development Funds in 2027, progress in the agriculture, education and health sectors, among others,” she added.

And Northern Province Dean of District Commissioners Risto Mushembe, who spoke through Kaputa District Commissioner Cosmas Mwaya, called for teamwork and shared commitment to achieve the objectives outlined in the development plan.

Mr Mushembe noted that enhanced coordination will enable the province to accelerate service delivery and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.

“I want to thank you for coming and for your continued commitment and dedication to the development of our province, through your active role in this important coordination platform.” Mr Mushembe said.

He reminded public service workers to uphold the civil service code of ethics by remaining professional, upholding integrity, accountability, impartiality and respect in the execution of duties.

He added that these values are fundamental to promoting public confidence and ensuring the delivery of quality services to the citizens.

The charter sets clear service standards guided by values of accountability, honesty, professionalism, impartiality, transparency and inclusivity.
