The Nkoya Royal Council(NRC) has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as Republican President in the 2026 general elections, attributing his victory to an inclusive development agenda.
NRC Chairman Kashandola Yunvwenu, who is also Chief Yunvwenu, said the Council which comprises over 30 Area Chiefs from the Kaoma Cluster of Nkeyema, Kaoma and Luampa districts, said President Hichilema was elected by the majority of Zambians.
While extending congratulations, the Council has appealed to the Head of State to pay attention to appointments in the public service for people from Western Province and consider indigenous Nkoya people as well.
Chief Yunvwenu said the Council, working with its advisors, mobilised headmen and villagers to remain focused on President Hichilema and United Party for National Development (UPND) candidates, resulting in the delivery of the “suit vote” that the President had requested.
The Nkoya Royal Council thanked the people of Kaoma for heeding its call and prayed for God’s blessings upon President Hichilema and the country.
The UPND scooped all the parliamentary and local government seats in Kaoma District in the just ended 2026 general elections.
