Nchanga Independent candidate Mulaza Kaira, popularly known as Macky 2, has conceded defeat to National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity candidate Rosemary Chipoya.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia is yet to release official results, but provisional figures show Chipoya ahead in the Nchanga race.

In a message posted to his social media accounts, Kaira said he was accepting the outcome with faith.

“It Hurts… But God Is The Greatest,” he wrote.

“I really do not understand God’s timing right now, but I trust him completely. His plan over my life always turns out better than what I initially want. So I believe with my whole heart that this is just a redirection or a delay. Mwemfumu, let your will be done.”

Kaira thanked his campaign team for their commitment throughout the race.

“To my hardworking team, the backbone of this campaign, I cannot thank you enough. Your sacrifice, your early mornings, your late nights and unwavering belief in me is what kept me going. This journey was beautiful because of you. Please don’t let this disappointment weigh you down.

Remember, our mission was never just about a title. It was about service. If the plan was to develop our communities, then there are still countless ways we can do that, with or without a seat in Parliament. Let’s not give up on our people now. TABESHA! The work continues.”

He also congratulated his opponent.

“I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to Mayo Ba Rosemary Chipoya on her victory. She ran a decent and respectful race. I wish her a successful tenure as she serves our people. I truly believe that deep down, we all want the same thing for Nchanga: progress, unity and development.”

Addressing Nchanga voters directly, Kaira said he remained committed to the constituency.

“To the people of Nchanga, olo mwanchita ifi, you have my heart. This place isn’t just a constituency to me. It’s my home and I will never stop fighting for you. Let’s remain united. Let’s stay strong. Our best days are still ahead of us.”

He signed off: “With love and faith, Ine Ninebo Mulaza Kaira.”

Elsewhere: In the newly created Lima constituency, Kelvin Kaunda celebrated his win.

“Thank you, ba Lima, for entrusting us with the responsibility to serve and preside over the affairs of our constituency. Your trust means everything to us. I am forever indebted to you for your confidence and support.”

Former Chipangali West MP Vincent Mwale also announced a return to Parliament.

“Back in Parliament and yes, back to provide checks and balances. Thank you Chipangali West and all glory to God!”
