Nalolo District Commissioner Namatama Mupo has commended the Departments of Community Development and Social Welfare for executing their duties diligently.

Mrs Mupo said the two departments have been consistent in updating her office on all activities being implemented in the district.

Speaking when a team of senior officials from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services paid a courtesy call on her office, Mrs Mupo said her office is always involved whenever there is enumeration of beneficiaries for various social protection programmes and monitoring activities.

“I wish to state that we are always informed whenever there are activities being conducted in these two departments and we usually accompany them for monitoring activities,” she said.

Mrs Mupo also commended the department of Community Development for distributing wetland farming inputs on time and for ensuring that the right beneficiaries receive the inputs.

She noted that it is gratifying to see the departments putting government support to good use for the benefit of the community.

Nalolo District Administrative Officer Obby Kashweka appreciated the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare for ensuring that support reaches the district on time.

Mr Kashweka said, it is good that support is distributed equally to all the parts of the country, regardless of distance.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Principal Planner Mpande Mutandwa said the visit to Nalolo District was aimed at appreciating what is happening on the ground, to enable policy makers to understand how funds sent to districts are being utilised and to show taxpayers how their money is being used.

Mr Mutandwa said his team is in the district to document the changes and improvements in people’s livelihoods after receiving government support, so that others can learn from the success stories.

“Our visit is to document what is being implemented so that people appreciate what is happening on the ground and also to enable us to understand the challenges that come with implementing these programmes,” Mr Mutandwa said.

He added that the visit also provided an opportunity for the team to interact with officers on the ground and beneficiaries.
