Veteran actor Mutale Monde, best known as “Mr. Nguzu” from the Zambezi Magic series Mpali, has publicly declared support for the opposition leader Brian Mundubile ahead of the August 13, 2026 General Election.

The endorsement comes high on the heels of another, by former UPND member Paul Moonga also disclosed his allegiance to Mundubile.

Moonga pointed out that he was not happy with the ruling party’s conduct and now sees Mundubile as a better option for the country.

The two announcements in quick succession have given Mundubile’s campaign a fresh boost.

Apparently, Mundubile’s supporters say the endorsements are a sign that his message is cutting across different sectors from politics and business to entertainment and civil society.

But critics are of the point of view that while endorsements from celebrities and public figures can boost a candidate’s profile during campaigns, they don’t automatically translate into votes.

With election day less than a month away, Mundubile’s campaign is gaining traction as more prominent Zambians publicly reveal their political choices.
