 Maggie Sapatu, a 52‑year‑old woman of Mwinilunga District in Northwestern Province who braved the odds by walking from Mwinilunga to Lusaka to meet President Hakainde Hichilema after his victory in the August 13 general elections that secured him a second term in office, has returned home.

Ms Sapatu was received today at Solwezi Airport by North‑Western Province Permanent Secretary Colonel Grandson Katambi (retired), who was flanked by his Deputy Luckson Mulumbi, Kalumbila District Commissioner Brenda Sankisa and other officials.

Speaking on arrival, Ms Sapatu said she embarked on the journey to meet the Head of State to appreciate him for the massive development he has achieved and for promoting peace and unity in the country.

She further called on people across the country to rally behind President Hakainde Hichilema and work with him to make Zambia a better country for all.

And Col Katambi has hailed Ms Sapatu for taking a bold step to walk to Lusaka stating that her bravery is commendable and represents the appreciation of the exceptional leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.

The Permanent Secretary said the gesture by Ms Sapato demonstrates that women in Northwestern Province appreciate the efforts government is making to develop not only the region but the country as a whole.
