KENYA: Kenyan Families to Receive $87.3M in Compensation Over 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Crash

Families of 32 Kenyans killed in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash are set to receive a combined $87.3 million in compensation from Boeing-linked victim funds.

The payout averages about $2.73 million per victim, or around KSh 350 million.

Flight 302 crashed near Bishoftu, Ethiopia, on 10 March 2019, killing all 157 people on board. The compensation comes from funds established after two fatal Boeing 737 MAX crashes — Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 and Indonesia’s Lion Air Flight 610. Together, the two disasters claimed 346 lives.

Compensation figures for victims from other countries have not been publicly disclosed.
