PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says government will employ all volunteer nurses and teachers next month.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Mutale Nalumango has urged citizens not to return to their vomit, stating that President Hichilema has brought unity in the country.

And Senior Chief Tafuna has endorsed President Hichilema ahead of the August General election.

Speaking at a series of rallies in Northern Province, Friday, President Hichilema urged graduates who have not yet been employed not to complain, stating that they would be employed next.

“You are voting for UPND so that we can improve the hospital here. The population of Mpulungu is too big, we are going to build a fully-fledged hospital here in Mpulungu, then we’ll employ more doctors [and] more nurses. To confirm that, next month, actually, starting now, I’ve issued instructions, all these volunteer nurses will be employed by your government, all of these and those. I hear also, there are volunteer teachers, even them [they] will be employed. So, if you are a nurse, you are a teacher, you are an engineer, agriculture officer, you are not employed yet, don’t complain, you are the next one to be employed under our government. From today, all these volunteer nurses who are not employed yet, and teachers, you’ll be employed next month, only those who are volunteers,” President Hichilema noted.

“Because you have demonstrated your commitment to serving the community, you’ll then be employed even ahead of the next applications. [When] the President says something, it will happen. That is how we show our love and care for the people of Malole and Mungwi, that’s how we demonstrate our love, there’s no other way [of] showing love. It’s not just about one saying they love you but the action does not prove that, this is how we prove our love and care for you, we deliver for you. You are voting for the continued employment of teachers, and we recruited 45,000 teachers in four years 10 months, nurses, medical staff, agriculture staff, soldiers in the army, in ZAF, soldiers, [Zambia] National Service, police, correctional service, all of these, we’ve employed, you are voting for the continued employment of such people”.

President Hichilema said citizens should not vote for Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu who were once ministers in the PF government but did not do the things they are now promising voters.

“Don’t be cheated by those, ing’wena ni ng’wena (crocodile is a crocodile). Don’t be cheated, let’s just go forward. My friends are liars. Even now they say they want to come back. They were ministers in the PF government, why didn’t they do the things they are talking about now? Why didn’t they build the roads that they are talking about? Why didn’t they introduce free education? Why didn’t they increase CDF to K40 million? Now they want to come back, where will they sit? We are already occupying that position. We are working for the people. That other gentleman was a provincial minister here in Northern, why didn’t they build a university at Ntumpa? Why didn’t they complete Mbesuma Bridge? They were both ministers, why didn’t they do the work they are talking about,” said President Hichilema

“Now that Bally has fixed things, the country is now doing better, they want to come back. Now that there is some money in the economy, they start salivating, that money belongs to the Zambian people, it’s not their money. Your vote will allow us to complete the Nseluka-Kayambi Road. As you know, I’m a lover of education because it’s the best investment, equaliser and inheritance, you know that. Here in Northern Province, there’ll be a public university, we’ll build a public university here in Northern Province. We will complete the district hospital here to the best level, with all the equipment, and more doctors and nurses here. Your vote will allow us to complete the Mbesuma Bridge, I’m confirming that”.

Vice-President Nalumango stressed that the country cannot develop if it is not united.

“We have refused to go backwards, isn’t it? We have refused to go back to our vomit, isn’t it? Do we go back to our vomit? No. I will not even take time because today, we are blessed to have the President of the Republic of Zambia, who is also our President as United Party for National Development. He loves unity, can there be development if people are not united? We can only develop if we are united. They lie that he ferries people from other places, wasn’t there a meeting in Mpulungu? So, these people here also flew here from Mpulungu?” wondered Vice-President Nalumango.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Nsokolo of the Mambwe people thanked President Hichilema for initiatives such as Cash for Work and the construction of chiefs’ palaces.

Chief Nsokolo further appealed to government to modernise Nzombe border post and electrify the villages in the province through the Rural Electrification Authority (REA).
