FOREIGN Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe has called for collective action in implementing the Pact for the Future, saying commitments made by countries must translate into tangible results.

Mr Haimbe said the Pact, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2024, represents a collective commitment to strengthen multilateralism in areas such as sustainable development, peace and security, digital transformation and development financing.

The Minister was speaking in New York at a high-level event held two years after the adoption of the Pact, focusing on Africa’s progress, challenges and opportunities in its implementation.

The event was co-hosted by Zambia and Namibia, together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the African Union and the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General and the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa.

Meanwhile, Mr Haimbe signed a Joint Communique with Andorra’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Imma Tor Faus, establishing diplomatic relations between Zambia and the Principality of Andorra.
