THE Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation Permanent Secretary Romas Kamanga says the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between his ministry and the World Wild Fund for Nature Zambia has been designed to respond to current priorities in the water sector.

Speaking at the Signing Ceremony of the Renewed Memorandum of Understanding in Lusaka, Mr Kamanga said the agreed areas of collaboration must also be translated into clearly defined activities, deliverables and measurable results that align with Government priorities.

Mr Kamanga noted that the success of the partnership should be reflected in improved water resource management, stronger resilience of communities and ecosystems, better protection of water resources and catchments and enhanced capacity to address emerging water-related challenges.

He highlighted that interventions should be guided by reliable data, sound technical assessments and clear evidence of need, vulnerability and potential impact.

World Wide Fund for Nature Country Director Nalucha Ziba called for strengthening of integrated water resource management to protect its rivers, wetlands, groundwater and catchments from growing environmental and climate pressures.
