12 ViewsThe Zambian government has declared the National Registration Card and passport of Tonse Alliance Secretary General Celestine Mukandila invalid, citing fraud during the application process.
In Government Gazette Notice No. 1418 of 2026, published on September 4, 2026, authorities said Mukandila’s NRC 113314/10/1 and passport ZN817922 were revoked after an investigation found they were obtained through false information and misrepresentation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, through Permanent Secretary Dickson Matembo, said the two documents are no longer acceptable for identification, travel, or any official transactions effective immediately.
Government has cautioned all public offices, banks, border officials, and law enforcement agencies to reject the cancelled documents.
The notice warns that attempting to use them could lead to prosecution.
Anyone holding the invalid NRC or passport has been ordered to hand them in at the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship, or at the nearest police station or passport office.
The Gazette did not give details on the nature of the alleged fraud or how the documents were irregularly acquired.
