CORNELIUS MULENGA, popularly known as Chella Tukuta, has been sued in the High Court by Hot FM director and shareholder Oscar Chavula over a Facebook post allegedly linking him to terrorism.

Chavula and Hot FM Limited have commenced legal proceedings against Chella over a post published on the Facebook page “Chellah Tukuta Studios” on August 28, 2026.

According to the Statement of Claim filed in the High Court for Zambia, Chella allegedly published a post stating that radio stations in Rwanda promoted genocide “just like Chavula promoted terrorists in Zambia”.
The post, which was accompanied by a photograph of Chavula, also used the word “TERRORISM” in capital letters.

Chavula and Hot FM contend that the publication was defamatory and falsely portrayed Chavula as having promoted, supported, facilitated or encouraged terrorists or terrorism in Zambia.

They further argue that, because of Chavula’s publicly known association with Hot FM, the post was understood by some members of the audience as also accusing the radio station of promoting or facilitating terrorism.

The Plaintiffs say the allegations are false and claim that Chella had no lawful or factual basis for making them.

According to the court document, the post attracted at least 465 reactions and four shares, in addition to comments and replies.

The Plaintiffs further allege that Chella failed or refused to retract the allegations or apologise after receiving a demand dated August 31, 2026.

They also cite a subsequent post allegedly published by Chella on August 31 in which he represented that he was “ready” for Chavula, arguing that this aggravated the alleged injury.

Chavula is suing for libel, while Hot FM has brought claims of libel by innuendo and, alternatively, malicious falsehood.

The Plaintiffs are seeking damages and other relief, with the aggregate monetary claim capped at K20 million, exclusive of interest and costs.

The matter has been filed under 2026/HP/1114 in the High Court for Zambia at the Principal Registry in Lusaka.
