Communications expert Dr. Brenda Bukowa has challenged educated Zambians to stop “hiding behind degrees and diplomas” and get involved in hustle, politics, farming and blue collar work.
Known for her charismatic approach to social matters in society, Dr. Bukowa said overthinking is holding back graduates from changing their own lives and communities.
Dr. Bukowa said education should not limit people to formal office jobs only.
“The problem I have found in us educated people is that we are cowards in almost everything. We tend to overthink things and hide behind our degrees and diplomas,” she said.
“Listen; your education shouldn’t stop you from hustling, engaging in politics, farming, engaging in blue collar jobs or anything that can change your life and that of your community,” Dr. Bukowa added.
The communications expert argued that a degree should be a tool, not a cage.
“Education is not meant for the office alone, go out there and try other things in addition to your teaching or medical jobs etc,”she said.
Dr. Bukowa is a lecturer, communications expert, business lady and public speaker based in Lusaka.
