The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has issued an apology after results for Keembe East Constituency were mistakenly announced twice during a live session.
ECZ Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, has however assured that the mistake does not affect the consolidated results as Keembe East twice was only counted once.
She said this shortly before commencing the second official announcement of Presidential election results, at the 2026 National Election results Centre, in Lusaka.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro, further elaborated on the error, noting that it arose during preparations of the announcement schedules which are printed in two sets.
He assured stakeholders that the consolidated figures remain accurate, covering 70 constituencies.
