Former University of Zambia Student Union (UNZASU) Secretary General, Titus Chisha, has secured an app called Corpus meant to help students in the School of Natural Sciences to study under the 13th Intake movement initiative.

Corpus is a mobile study app built for UNZA students and developed by a sixth-year UNZA medical student.

Speaking in an interview with the app developer, Joseph Sikalumba, he said the app was developed to help students in the School of Natural Sciences understand tutorial sheets.

“My studies have always been difficult because it is hard to orient oneself to the courses at a fast pace. So I always imagined an ideal studying mechanism where I would have everything already organized for me notes, past papers, and answers,” he said.

“Apart from that, I always wanted a way to categorize topics so that I could revise based on specific topics. Since there was no such system, I decided to design my own based on what I always wanted.”

He added that creating the app actually made his personal studying easier.

“And when I realized that the system I built could also be used for other courses, I thought to myself, why can’t others also benefit from it?”

Meanwhile, former UNZASU Secretary General Titus Chisha stated that the initiative under the 13th Intake program is merely a stepping stone, with further collaborations in other schools expected to follow.

“As Commander Tilo, and because of the love I have for my fellow students, I engaged the developer of the app to help first-year Natural Sciences students understand their work and clear to the next level,” Mr. Chisha said.

He said the app will not make students lazy, but is instead a stepping stone and a way to embrace technology and make learning easier.

“This is a proper strategy that only wise students will utilize well,” he said.

He added that the app has been assessed, and some students who are benefiting from it have testified that it is helping them.

The Apps deepest coverage today is for first-year students at the Great East Road Campus, where Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Economics, and Business quietly determine who progresses to second year.
