More than 2,000 people in Kagunda Community of Chipata Central Constituency are set to access electricity for the first time following the implementation of an electricity connection project by the Chipata City Council.
The project, which will be implemented at a total of K907,524.32, by the Chipata Council through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), has reached 90 percent completion.
Chipata City Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Grace Lungu, says the project would connect households and community institutions to the national electricity grid and improve access to reliable power.
The provision of electricity would also create opportunities for socio-economic development in Kagunda Community.
She explained that access to electricity was expected to stimulate economic activities by supporting small and medium-sized businesses, improving productivity and creating an enabling environment for new enterprises to thrive.
Ms.Lungu said the Council remained committed to implementing infrastructure projects that respond to the needs of local communities and contribute to improved livelihoods.
She expressed confidence that completion of the project would help transform Kagunda into a more vibrant, connected and economically empowered community.
