A 55-year-old man of Chipata College of Education has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old niece in Chipata District.
According Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba, matter was reported to Chipata Central Police Station on 27th July, 2026 by the victim’s uncle, acting on behalf of the family.
It is alleged that the abuse occurred multiple times between February and July 2026 at the accused’s residence, where the juvenile was staying.
Police state that the suspect Frank Msoni, a paternal uncle to the survivor, allegedly used threats of sending the girl back to her unemployed mother to coerce her into submission.
On three separate occasions, he is accused of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the child and subsequently administering emergency contraceptive pills to conceal the acts.
The ordeal came to light on 26th July, 2026, when the brave survivor finally confided in her mother, who immediately pursued justice.
Police confirmed the suspect has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
