CDF funds over 75 development projects in Chililabombwe

MORE than 75 development projects have been implemented in Chililabombwe District using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources, officials have disclosed.

According to a statement by the council’s Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nambela Kyombela, the update was given on Monday, 28th July 2026, during a one-hour radio programme on Konkola Radio.

Speaking on the programme, Director of Engineering Services Goodson Nkanka said the district had made significant strides in health, education and infrastructure through the CDF.

“Over 75 projects have been successfully undertaken,” Nkanka said.

He listed health infrastructure among the key achievements.

“These include the construction of the district’s first maternity annexes in Kawama, Silwizya Ward and Fitobaula,” Nkanka said.

In the education sector, Nkanka said CDF had been used to expand classroom space.

“In the education sector, the district has constructed 1×3 classroom blocks in Kasumbalesa and Anoya Zulu wards as well as at Kakoso Combined School to improve access to quality education,” he said.

The Engineering Director also highlighted market infrastructure as another area of focus.

He highlighted the construction of Nakatindi Market and Kamenza East Market as key infrastructure projects completed under the CDF in support of trade and commerce.

Other projects completed include works to improve mobility and road networks.

“Other major projects implemented through the fund include the construction of crossing points in Lubansa and Inkonkola, pothole patching, gravel road works in Milyanshi and Anoya Zulu as well as the procurement of machinery and an ambulance to improve service delivery,” said Nkanka.

And CDF Chairperson Pastor Steven Kase commended government for the increased funding, saying it has transformed service delivery in the district noting that the enhanced allocation has accelerated development across Chililabombwe District.

Pastor Kase said the bigger CDF envelope has allowed the committee to respond to more community priorities at once.

Director of Planning Marlon Chisala said the creation of a new constituency in the district will further strengthen development planning.

He noted that with two constituencies, planning and monitoring of CDF projects will be more targeted and efficient.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Jacqueline Musonda of Kawama said the new maternity annex has changed how women access health services in her community.

“The newly constructed maternity annex has greatly improved access to maternal health services for women in the area,” said Musonda.

She called on government to continue implementing similar initiatives that reduce walking distances and bring essential services closer to communities.

The more than 75 projects undertaken in Chililabombwe reflect government’s commitment to decentralisation and ensuring CDF resources translate into tangible benefits at ward level.
