CCMG PRVT STATEMENT ON 2026 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RESULTS
The Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) has released its independent parallel vote tabulation (PRVT) findings, based on 1,491 of 1,500 sampled polling stations (99.4%).
🔹 Estimated turnout: 53.5% (±0.6%) — down from 70.6% in 2021
🔹 HH (UPND): 56.0% (±1.7%)
🔹 BM (NRPUP): 42.3% (±1.7%)
🔹 Other candidates: ≤0.5% each
🔹 Rejected ballots: 2.8% (±0.1%)
CCMG confirms HH won outright with more than 50% of the vote. However, official turnout and vote figures in 30 constituencies fell outside CCMG's estimated range, linked to unusually high turnout increases (+6%) in those areas compared to a -15% average drop elsewhere.
CCMG says this does not change the presidential outcome but raises concerns for proportional representation seat allocation, and is calling on the ECZ to:
🔹 Release all 226 vote-totalling records
🔹 Publish GEN20 form images for all 13,529 polling stations
🔹 Work with parties and civil society to address the discrepancies
CCMG has urged all parties and citizens to remain calm and pursue any concerns through legal channels.
